A Well-Deserved Honour: Eilagh Rurenga Named Local Senior of the Year

South Wagga Rotary was proud to celebrate a very special moment during our recent NSW Seniors Festival event, when long-serving member Eilagh Rurenga was presented with the Local Senior of the Year Award.

The award was presented by Dr Joe McGirr MP in recognition of Eilagh’s outstanding and sustained contribution to our community. For many years, Eilagh has dedicated her time, energy and passion to supporting local organisations, initiatives and events that strengthen community connection and improve the lives of others.

As a valued member of South Wagga Rotary, Eilagh exemplifies the Rotary spirit of Service Above Self. Her commitment to volunteering, her willingness to step forward whenever help is needed, and her quiet leadership have made a lasting impact on both our club and the wider community.

Those who know Eilagh understand that her work has never been about recognition. Instead, it has always been driven by a genuine desire to support others and contribute to the wellbeing of the community she cares so deeply about.

Receiving the Local Senior of the Year Award is therefore a fitting acknowledgement of the many years of dedication and service she has given.

South Wagga Rotary extends its warmest congratulations to Eilagh on this well-deserved honour. We are incredibly proud to have her as part of our club and grateful for the example she sets through her ongoing commitment to community service.
