School Holiday Workshop - Museum of the Riverina

On Saturday 11th October, the Wagga Youth Circular Lids Initiative team hosted a lively, hands-on workshop at the Museum of the Riverina – Botanic Gardens site.

Children and carers spent two fun-filled hours exploring the journey of plastic bottle lids — from collection to creation. Participants took turns sorting lids, making posters, shredding plastic, extruding and mould-making, all while learning about sustainability and the power of community action.

Of course, no Rotary event would be complete without a few smiles and some friendly competition — with giant Jenga adding to the day’s energy and laughter.

The children also completed a short survey, offering some fantastic ideas for the future — including requests for more accessible recycling options, such as lid collection bins in shopping centres and dedicated lid bins in households.
